Primary Program (3 - 6 years)

The primary classroom is a carefully prepared environment that encourages children to learn individually, at their own pace.

We have prepared a dynamic learning environment of concrete materials that encourage the child to discover and learn throughout this limited period of her life. Montessori teachers are trained to observe each individual child and guide them to things that match their developmental needs and things she is most interested in learning; the results are joy, immense satisfaction and excitement about learning.

It's A Mixed Age Classroom

Because students on the older end will generally be more advanced in their abilities than their younger peers, older students are encouraged to teach what they know to younger students, who can both learn from and look up to their “elders”. Leadership encourages responsibility as well as creativity and interpersonal skills, and helps students to better understand their own mental processes.

The Gift Of Choice

In the Montessori classroom, children are given the freedom to choose activities from a carefully prepared environment. This prepared environment is key! Through careful observation of the child, teachers can provide the right lessons for the child’s development. When the child chooses his own lessons, he is genuinely interested in learning and develops a deep concentration and a love for learning.

A Deep Connection Between Teacher and Child

Our teachers are a group of loving individuals. Each employee has a deep respect for children and the Montessori philosophy. We are all committed to insuring our environment is a happy safe place for all our students! Respect and patience results in special relationship they develop with your child throughout the three year journey together.

Child Centered Education

You will not find all the children expected to pay close attention to teacher. Unlike conventional classrooms, our teachers observe the needs of each individual child and introduce them to work individually or in small groups. This allows children to progress at their own pace.

Hands-on Materials

Our approved materials are scientifically designed Montessori materials. They help your child learn through hands-on use. Through exploration your child adapts to the classroom and learns concrete and abstract ideas. These ideas are a foundation to the future years in the classroom and formative for the kindergarten year.

Group Activities and Play

During the day your child is able to engage and choose their own work. However, we also have many group activities they can participate in such as story telling, songs, and some group lessons. We also have plenty of time outside on our playground and for nature walks.

Follow the Child

Each teacher is trained to give your child a lesson at that precise moment of development. Your child will be challenged according to her ability, not to a generic standard. We follow the child. Always.

The Children's House

With a lot of care and attention to detail, our prepared environment or "Children's House" has low shelves, beautiful artwork, books and many cultural items. These beautiful items pique your child’s interest and stimulate his senses. The children take care of the environment and as a result have a sense of ownership. This furthers their independence and leadership qualities.

Grace and Courtesty

Through “grace and courtesy” activities, we teach your child how to solve conflicts, how to act politely in social situations and how to be kind and helpful to friends. Children are presented situations and clearly taught the language and polite way about handling it. This creates a peaceful environment where children are able to speak kindly to one another and adults.

Kindergarten Year

Montessori is a continuum of education that allows your child to build upon their experiences each year. Your child will stay in the Primary classroom for 3 years, including the traditional “kindergarten year” – when the seeds of learning come to fruition. Reading and writing come to life from sounds and symbols. They are introduced to numbers and the decimal system. They learn about geometric figures and the political countries of our world. They leave the program with a strong set of academic skills; but, far more importantly, with the attitude that learning is fun, exciting and boundless.
